The Story behind
These three seats lay down a challenge for the material. Japanese master craftsmen fashion a heart of carbon fiber for the bamboo bench frame. Tradition meets high tech in this innovative piece that showcases bamboo in a clean, uncluttered design. Karumi is Japanese for "purity through simplicity". Far from a showy technique and gratuitous form, Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza Vieira delivers here pieces of a modest yet complex architecture inspired by artisanal techniques.
