The story behind

From Arumfel to Centummorbia, Eupatorium, Loc Sumutri, Spatula foetida and Zurumbeth, the most erudite readers may recognize these species from the index of “The Herball or Generall Historie of Plantes”, the 16th-century botanical manual that Gianpaolo Pagni used as the basis for his new herbarium. Like planting seeds, he superimposed botanical drawings and stamp prints to create a graphic vocabulary that only he knows the secret of. One flower grew, then another, then one more, until there were twelve on each side of this double-sided scarf. While the flowers blend with the words on the front, they fade away on the back, leaving a graphic, colorful bouquet to blossom on the silk.
